Thank You, Nicola: 10 Years Protecting Herefordshire’s Countryside
After 10 years with CPRE Herefordshire, trustee and PLAN team member Nicola Forde is stepping down. We would like to thank her for a decade of work protecting Herefordshire’s countryside from damaging development.

Nicola joined CPRE because of its focus on the planning system. As she puts it: “Town planning in Britain grew from a desire to control the impact of man on the environment and to create beautiful settlements.”
Nicola was part of a dedicated group of volunteers in reviewing planning applications across the county and objecting where development threatened the countryside. The team took on increasingly complex cases, from large housing schemes next to flood plains to technical applications such as anaerobic digesters, and chicken sheds and many of the applications it opposed were refused or withdrawn. Nicola was pragmatic and resolute in establishing facts rather than listening to high spirited views. She was well respected by the experts she worked with and will be missed by us all.
Thank you from all of us
On behalf of the trustees, staff and volunteers, thank you. Your time, expertise, insight and clear thinking on planning will be greatly missed, enjoy your retirement from development battles.
Join our PLAN team
Nicola’s departure means we are looking for new volunteers to continue the PLAN team’s work. Planning experience is ideal, but training can be provided. If you believe in protecting our landscape and countryside and have time to help, email admin@cpreherefordshire.org.uk.
