Booking form for hedge planting days

We have completed planting for this season (Nov 2024 – April 2025), and are thrilled to share that 3714 metres (2.3 miles) of beautiful new hedgerows have been planted and restored across Herefordshire!
A huge thank you to everyone involved, we couldn’t have done it without you!
We hope to continue this project, starting again in the Autumn. Hedge planting sessions run from 10am to 2pm and will be led by an experienced hedge planting lead. We welcome both individual volunteers and businesses looking to participate through charity days. Children are more than welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. If you have not planted a hedge before we will show you how (only light work is required!). We provide all equipment, plus hot drinks and biscuits to keep you going.
It’s a great way of spending a few hours in the outdoors, in beautiful Herefordshire countryside, doing something great for nature and meeting like-minded people too.
Please do sign up below if you would like to hear more information about our project, hedge laying courses, hedge talks and/or are thinking of volunteering with us. Should you have any questions please email us at info@cpreherefordshire.org.uk
The importance of hedgerows:
Did you know, since 1945 England has lost over half of its hedgerows which are vital for nature, bursting with life and they support one in ten of the UK’s vulnerable species, including the hazel dormouse and the beloved hedgehog, whose decline is closely linked to hedgerow loss. The lines of hedges crisscrossing our countryside act as wildlife corridors, linking habitats together and providing safe movement for many scurrying, flying and scuttling animals such as endangered dormice and rare brown hairstreak butterflies. You can find out more about the history of hedges here.
