Have you seen the People’s Emergency Briefing film?

The film draws on a National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster Hall last November, where ten of the UK’s leading climate and nature experts briefed politicians and leaders on the risks facing the country.

Some of the figures are genuinely terrifying. But sitting in a room full of people who had turned out on a weeknight to watch it together was encouraging. The film is designed to be seen in person, with neighbours and local decision-makers. This shared experience turns worry into conversation, and conversation into questions about what to do next, and most importantly action.

A briefing notes document, compiling the key issues and solutions raised by each expert, is available here. It sets out the evidence behind every claim, alongside practical next steps: from home retrofitting and hedgerow restoration to plant-rich diets and backing the campaign for a televised national emergency briefing.

This is a film that needs to be seen, not just talked about.

As outlined in the film, stopping this climate and nature crisis requires a response on the same scale as World War Two. While this all feels overwhelming, and our personal control over the outcome may seem limited, coming together with our local community gives us real power to act, from small, practical projects locally to shaping what our Government prioritises.
