We were delighted to welcome members, supporters, and local voices to our 2025 AGM, where we shared updates on our campaigns, celebrated recent successes, and looked ahead to our priorities for the coming year.

The River Wye Preservation Trust award honours exceptional efforts to protect the River Wye – a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a vital part of Herefordshire’s natural heritage.

Tony Norman received this well-deserved recognition for his tireless commitment to safeguarding the river’s health, wildlife, and future.

His passion and perseverance continue to inspire everyone working to protect our precious environment for generations to come.

Thank you, Bob & Virginia

After many years of dedicated service, we send our deepest gratitude to Bob and Virginia for all they have done for CPRE Herefordshire.

Their passion, wisdom and kindness have touched so many parts of our work, from planning advice to community engagement and championing the Herefordshire countryside.

CPRE Herefordshire Trustee Virginia

Their commitment has helped shape CPRE Herefordshire into the organisation it is today.

While we’ll miss their regular involvement, we know their legacy will endure in the hedgerows, rivers and landscapes they’ve helped protect.

CPRE Herefordshire Chairman Bob

Thank you, Bob & Virginia for your heart, your time, and your belief in a better countryside. You can find out about the project they support on our website.

Thank you, Yolande

CPRE Herefordshire Executive Member and Dark Skies Project lead Yolande

In October, we also said farewell to Yolande Watson, who for 18 months has given exemplary work as the lead for our Dark Skies project.

We are very grateful to Yolande for developing the project as well as her valuable, energetic and dedicated support for Dark Skies volunteers.

CPRE Herefordshire has a long association with light pollution, having hosted a symposium on light pollution in 2004.  You can find out more here.

Yolande’s passion helped us take this work forward to a modern audience and we wish her all the very best for the future.

Looking ahead

This autumn and winter we will be kept busy again with our Hedgerow Heroes project where we aim to plant or restore 6km (3.7 miles) of hedgerow in Herefordshire by April 2026.  We are looking for lots of volunteers to help us meet our target, if you want to find out more please click here or email info@cpreherefordshire.org.uk.

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM. It was a chance to reflect, reconnect, and renew our shared commitment to protecting Herefordshire’s countryside and rural communities.
