Help support the recovery of the native Black Poplar in Herefordshire
At CPRE Herefordshire, we believe in practical, community-led action that helps our countryside thrive. Protecting and restoring nature is central to CPRE’s mission to promote, enhance and protect a beautiful, biodiverse countryside for everyone’s benefit.
One species in particular needs our help: the Native Black Poplar, now considered one of Britain’s rarest timber trees. Once a familiar sight across floodplains and field edges, its numbers have declined dramatically, making local conservation efforts more important than ever.
Thanks to the dedication of Tony Norman and the North West Herefordshire Tree Wardens group, a limited number of young Black Poplars are now available. These include both small rooted cuttings and larger truncheons, ideal for those wanting to support the recovery of this iconic species.
Each plant comes with a reused 1.2 metre Tubex guard.
A suggested £3 donation helps fund this ongoing restoration work.
If you or your organisation would like to plant a Native Black Poplar and play a part in safeguarding its future, please contact Tony directly at tony@theleen.co.uk.
A small act of planting today can help create a richer, more resilient countryside for tomorrow.
