A salute to our outgoing Chair Bob Widdowson

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Robert (Bob) Widdowson as he steps down as Chair of CPRE Herefordshire after an extraordinary 28 years of service!

Bob joined us in March 1997, he has been a calm, clear-headed, and deeply principled leader.

Bob brought with him decades of experience from the voluntary sector, having worked with housing organisations such as Shelter and as a consultant for bodies including the Citizens Advice Bureau. His unwavering commitment to environmental protection, fair housing, and social justice has helped shape CPRE Herefordshire into the passionate and resilient organisation it is today.

Never one to seek the spotlight, Bob led with quiet strength and thoughtful insight. He was instrumental in founding the Herefordshire Anti-Poverty Alliance, and his dedication to his local community in Kington, where he served two terms as Mayor, is equally inspiring. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Bob has always championed collaboration, inclusion, and fairness.

We thank him for his decades of leadership, wisdom, and friendship. His contribution will be felt for many years to come, and he leaves with our utmost respect and warmest wishes.
