Council calls for government support on the Wye

8th March 2021

Problems stem from flooding, pollution and development.

At the Herefordshire Council meeting on Friday 5 March 2021, councillors were in complete agreement on the need for action to protect the River Wye, citing flooding, pollution and the halt to new building as major threats to the well-being of Herefordshire residents.

The Council will write asking local MPs and government ministers for:

‘urgent intervention and immediate resourcing for our statutory agencies to address the issues of flooding and phosphate overload which is ravaging Herefordshire’s economy, ecology and communities.’

You can follow the debate on the motion on the Council’s Youtube video of the meeting, between 2:18 and 3:05.
