Planning for the 2020s - Raynsford Review has been published.......

The report highlights the six key characteristics needed for a fit-for-purpose planning system, and puts forward 24 recommendations grouped under nine propositions, offering an excellent explanation of how we have got to where we are and what could be done about that.

The review was chaired by the Rt Hon Nick Raynsford, former housing and planning minister, managed by the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), and funded mainly by CPRE and the planning consultancy David Lock Associates.

CPRE is now looking at how we can embody the 24 recommendations in our planning campaigning work, in particular focusing on how planning should focus on the public interest, improving democratic accountability, and of course our usual focus on ensuring that the rural/countryside angle is properly represented.
