Members' Information

The proposed changes to the planning system under the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) are due to be published in March 2012. Therefore, whilst amendments are being considered, the next few weeks are critical to CPRE's planning campaign. Of particular concern is that the NPPF contains no wording to protect the 'ordinary countryside'.
Beyond the two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Wye Valley and Malverns) Herefordshire has no protected countryside. It may surprise some to learn that Herefordshire has no green belt land, despite the rural nature of the county.
Please email your MP regards the threat to the countryside
Do please share the above link to the current CPRE online action with your friends and family and ask them to email their MP about how important it is for the Framework to protect the wider countryside.

Star Count 2012 CPRE and Cfds are once again running the Star Count, to continue to map the spread of light pollution. Please join us in counting the stars and do invite your family and friends to join in.

How old are your local hedges? How many species would you find?
2012 is the final year of the Herefordshire Hedgerow Project. Would you like to know more?

CPRE Herefordshire commissioned a report, late 2010, which casts doubt on Herefordshire Council's Housing targets in the county and is calling for the Council to perform a considered review of its proposed targets.
